Chapter 7

Core Infrastructure and Workers

7.1Core Infrastructure

Core Infrastructure represents the minimum base capability of a faction.

By default, Command Centers are Core Infrastructure.

Command Centers:

  • Do not cost Deployment Points
  • Do not permanently enter the Destroyed Zone
  • May be rebuilt if destroyed
  • Are limited to 1 active Command Center at a time unless a rule says otherwise

Workers are not unlimited Core Infrastructure. Workers follow the Worker Limit rules.

7.2Worker Limit

Each player may always have up to 3 Workers on the battlefield.

These first 3 Workers do not cost Deployment Points.

Additional Worker capacity must be purchased in the Deployment List.

Each additional Worker purchased increases that player’s Worker Limit by 1 while that purchased Worker capacity remains available.

Example:

A player buys 1 additional Worker in their Deployment List. Their Worker Limit becomes 4.

If they have 4 Workers on the battlefield and 2 Workers are destroyed, their purchased Worker capacity is lost first. They are reduced to 2 Workers and may train back up to 3 Workers, but not 4.

7.3 Free Worker Allowance

The first 3 Workers are the player’s Free Worker Allowance .

Destroyed Workers from the Free Worker Allowance do not permanently enter the Destroyed

Zone.

A player below 3 Workers may train Workers back up to 3 if they have the resources, Supply,

and production capacity.

7.4 Purchased Worker Capacity

Each additional Worker purchased in the Deployment List creates 1 purchased Worker capacity.

Purchased Worker capacity is used only for Workers beyond the first 3.

If a Worker is destroyed while its controller has more than 3 Workers on the battlefield, one

purchased Worker capacity is moved to the Destroyed Zone.

That purchased capacity no longer increases the player’s Worker Limit unless a rule returns it.

7.5 Destroyed Workers

When a Worker is destroyed, remove it from the Battlefield.

Then check how many Workers the player had immediately before the Worker was destroyed.

If the player had 3 or fewer Workers, the destroyed Worker counts as part of the Free Worker

Allowance and does not permanently enter the Destroyed Zone.

If the player had more than 3 Workers, the destroyed Worker consumes purchased Worker

capacity and moves that purchased Worker capacity to the Destroyed Zone.

7.6 Worker Functions

Workers are the primary economic and construction units of Post Galactica. Workers can normally:

  • Mine Carbon
  • Construct buildings
  • Repair buildings
  • Place extraction structures
  • Interact with certain objectives
  • Rebuild Command Centers

Workers count against Supply unless a rule says otherwise.

7.7 Command Centers

Each player begins with one Command Center.

A Command Center normally:

  • Provides 5 maximum Supply
  • Trains Workers
  • Stores or processes resources
  • Serves as the player’s main base
  • Enables construction and production chains
  • May be required for victory conditions

7.8 Rebuilding Command Centers

If a Command Center is destroyed, it may be rebuilt by an eligible Worker if the player can pay its cost and meet all placement requirements.

A rebuilt Command Center functions normally unless a mission says otherwise.

In missions where the original starting Command Center is the objective, destroying the original Command Center may determine victory even if Command Centers can normally be rebuilt.

7.9 Active Command Center Limit

A player may control 1 active Command Center at a time.

A player cannot begin construction of a new Command Center while they already control an active Command Center unless a rule increases their Command Center limit.

If a rule allows additional Command Centers, each additional Command Center must be placed:

  • At least 12 inches from another friendly Command Center
  • At least 6 inches from an enemy Command Center
  • In a legal building location
  • Not within 4 inches of an enemy unit unless a rule allows it
